Yoga, writing & activism
My name is Siw and my background is from contemporary circus arts where I worked as a performer, teacher and director.
I found yoga and meditation as tools to stay more sustainable on a personal level, and soon realized these practices is deeply needed to find balance and sustainability in our global communities as well. Hugely thanks to inspiration from teachers like Michael Stone and the organization Off the mat, into the world. I am also very grateful to my teacher Ateeka.
I hold about 20 certifications in different styles of yoga, Pilates, bodywork and meditation, and tailor the material I share to the context at hand rooted in mindfulness and compassion. I am registered with Yoga Alliance.
My main focus is how our practice can challenge and support us in the culture we live in. In 2015 I published my first book "Yoga når det gjelder" (Yoga - when it matters), where I explore the intersection between movement, art, philosophy, personal practice and social change.
My second book “Hvile - alt vi vinner ved å la være” (The value of rest) came out in 2019 and is published in Poland and Denmark, in addition to Norway. Re-published in paperback in 2023.
I currently teach at several yoga teacher trainings in addition to my own projects.
I travel and teach in Scandinavia and beyond all year around. I am happy to teach in English and/or use a translator when that is useful.
I am fond of squirrels, elephants and black tea. Hopefully we will meet. Magic happens in collaboration.
